Fire bans on the northeast Avalon are starting to be lifted.
The bans were first put in place on May 30th due to hot and dry conditions.
Earlier today, the St. John’s Regional Fire Department lifted their ban for St. John’s, Mount Pearl and Paradise.
Now, the ban has also been lifted for the communities of Portugal Cove-St. Phillips and Conception Bay South.
That means open-air fires are now permitted. However, residents are encouraged to check with individual municipalities to see if burning permits are required.
