St. John’s city council paid tribute yesterday to the late, great Wabana mayor Gary Gosine.
Gosine passed away last week at the age of 67.
Mayor Danny Breen was out of town participating in torch relay events for the upcoming Canada Games.
So, Councillor Ron Ellsworth, in the mayor’s chair for yesterday’s committee of the whole meeting, extended condolences on behalf of the city.
“Gary’s championship for his community, his service to his community I think is unparalleled in this province,” he said. “So on behalf of Mayor Breen and my colleagues, all of us here at City Hall and the City of St. John’s wish to pass on our condolences to his family and friends and to the residents who supported him for so many years.”
