A teen has been ticketed as a result of a collision involving a dirt bike in St. John’s back in April.
Police were called out to the scene of a crash on Airport Heights Drive, around 11:25 Easter Monday morning. Officers determined that a dirt bike, which had been doing a wheelie, collided into an SUV.
The dirt bike was seized at the time, and last week, a 16-year-old was issued a number of tickets related to stunting on a highway, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says police are encouraging anyone who sees unsafe driving to call them.
“It gives you an idea of how quickly things can happen,” says Cadigan of the incident in question. He says when young people are using dirt bikes and dual purpose vehicles, they’re accessing the road but parents and guardians are not aware of that.
