A 19-year-old from Stephenville Crossing has been charged after allegedly spraying bear spray at an outdoor party in Barachois Brook last month.
RCMP say the incident happened at a high school graduation party on the beach sometime in the late night of May 3rd or early morning hours of May 4th.
Jesse Messervey, who was not part of the party, allegedly showed up and sprayed a substance believed to be bear spray into the gathering.
RCMP arrested Messervey on June 9th and charged him with eight counts of assault with a weapon, and one count each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and failing to comply with a release order.
His next court appearance is June 26th.
