A man accused of firing off a gun during a run-in with a group of teenagers earlier this year had his case called yesterday in provincial court.
Forty-seven-year-old Aaron Manuel of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s was charged with almost a dozen serious offences following the incident on January 3rd of this year.
The charges, including five counts of assault with a weapon, kidnapping, robbery and discharging a firearm, were laid after a subsequent search of the man’s property.
No one was injured in the confrontation.
Yesterday, defence lawyer Erin Breen said she has now received all of the disclosure or evidence against her client, adding discussions are ongoing with the Crown to resolve the case.
It will be called in court again on July 22nd for an update on those discussions and potential pleas to the charges.
