It might have been on the cooler side in many parts of the province in recent days, but the heat is on the way.
That’s according to Jennifer Smith, National Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, who says a warmer than usual summer is forecast for most of the country, including Newfoundland and Labrador.
She told the Tim Powers Show that the usual temperature variances are expected, but overall, temperatures will be higher on average.
“The tricky thing,” says Smith, “is that the forecast is based on a three-month period between June 1st and August 31st, so we can still have some warm spells, still have some cool spells, but when we average it all together, the trend is basically forecast to be above normal.”
