The critic for families and affordability says despite measures taken to address the cost of living, demand at food banks continues to rise.
Craig Pardy says news that Bridges to Hope saw a 30 per cent increase in demand, with more than 17,000 visits in 2024, is disheartening.
He points the finger of blame on Liberal government policies like the sugar tax. He says the Seniors’ Advocate, the Community Food Sharing Association and others have spoken out about people having to choose between food, heat or paying for medications, but he questions whether government is listening.
He claims a PC government, if elected, would increase the Senior’s Benefit and make the Child Benefit available to more families.
