The federal minister of Canadian identity and culture has announced the launch of a new Canada Strong Pass to allow free access to Canada’s national parks and campgrounds and discounted admission to museums.
Minister Steven Guilbeault says the initiative will make it more affordable for Canadian families to explore the country and take in our natural wonders.
“From June 20 to September 2, the pass will offer expanded access to Canada’s nature and culture,” Guilbeault announced at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Ottawa. It includes “free admission for everyone to our beautiful national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada.”
There will be a 25 per cent discount on camping fees, and free trips for children under 17 when accompanied by an adult on VIA Rail trains, and a 25 per cent discount for young adults between the age of 18 and 24.
Admission will also be free to national provincial and territorial museums for children 17 and younger, and a 50 per cent discount for young adults aged 18 to 24.
Some of the measures announced yesterday are similar to those introduced during the pandemic.
