The Calgary Flames has promoted St. John’s native Peter Hanlon to Assistant General Manager of the hockey club effective July 1st. Hanlon, who spent nearly three decades with the Flames organization, began his hockey career with the St. John’s Maple Leafs.
Hanlon will oversee player evaluation, recruitment and strategic planning with the Flames. General Manager Craig Conroy says Hanlon’s experience will be key in the club’s efforts to bring a Stanley Cup back to Calgary.
Before joining the Flames in 1997, Hanlon worked in the AHL head office. He also represented Team Canada internationally, including at the 2002 Olympics.
