A 60-year-old man has a future date with the court after giving breath samples that were four times the legal limit near Bonavista.

Officers pulled the unregistered vehicle over on the TCH near the Bonavista turn-off around suppertime Tuesday. The driver’s side door was left open, partially blocking the eastbound lane.

The driver showed signs of impairment and officers located open alcohol inside the vehicle.

The accused will appear in court at a later date to answer to a charge of impaired.

He was also ticketed for driving an unregistered vehicle and for the open alcohol, in addition to having his license suspended and vehicle impounded.
