One man is facing charges following a traffic stop in Gander that resulted in the seizure of contraband tobacco and pills.
RCMP stopped a van on Mifflin Place in Gander around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon, at which time tobacco was noticed in the vehicle.
The two men in the vehicle were arrested and the tobacco was seized.
One of the two men was found in possession of a quantity of unknown pills which were also seized.
The accused, 33-year-old Andrew Robert Hillier was on condition not to possess any substance unless prescribed by an authorized person.
Police say Hillier was also previously ordered to stay in Alberta unless otherwise allowed.
The driver of the van was released at the scene and the vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.
Hillier was charged with two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. The pills seized have been sent for analysis. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
