Some shower activity in the Badger area is a welcome sight as a forest fire continues to burn nearby.
Environment Canada meteorologist Rodney Barney says there was a little bit of rain overnight and a few more showers moving through this morning.
He says winds have remained fairly light and the humidex has been high, however the precipitation will taper off around lunchtime and the winds will pick up again.
Provincial wildfire program director Craig Coady says the rain will help get crews on the ground to tackle the hot spots.
He says the fire remains quite active and there is a lot of heat left in it, however the weather conditions will help crews make progress in dousing the blaze.
The state of emergency and evacuation order that was put in place on Wednesday remains in effect.
In a post on social media last night, the town says residents attempting to return will be denied entry by the RCMP.
Police and the local fire department have been patrolling the town to ensure all properties have been kept safe.
