The Canada Summer Games Host Society says rental car companies have been stepping up to help fill increased demand for rental vehicles during the games this August.
Newfoundland and Labrador has long experienced a limited supply of rental vehicles during the busy summer season, leading to discussions with car rental companies about what could be done to help address increased demand.
Co-chair Karl Smith says they’ve managed to drum up an extra 200 cars.
While that’s a good start, says Smith, availability will still be tight.
“We’ve had some really great conversations with the rental car agencies themselves and they’re stepping up and we anticipate that they’re going to have on hand about 200 more cars than normal here for St. John’s.”
