A political science professor at Memorial University believes the United States’ attacks on nuclear sites in Iran are a classic example of “the triumph of hope over experience.”
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday that the country directly intervened in the conflict between Iran and Israel by attacking three sites in Iran that have been “completely and fully obliterated.”
Top Iranian officials have warned the attacks will have “everlasting consequences.” Qatari officials have since confirmed that they have successfully intercepted missiles targeting the Al-Udeid air base near Doha.
As of this morning, Luke Ashworth indicated that the U.S. bombings added a layer of unpredictability to the escalating situation.
He says they don’t know how Iran is going to respond, though they can speculate, and they don’t know how Israel is going to respond.
