It was a busy start to the day for the St. John’s Regional Fire Department as members fought back-to-back structure fires.
Platoon chief Mike Hall says the first call came in about a fire on Janeway Place around 4:45 this morning.
As crews were getting that situation under control, a call came about another second fire at KC Industries on Kyle Avenue in Donovan’s Industrial Park.
That blaze was challenging, says Hall, given that it is a commercial building with various types of equipment and gases inside.
He says that means they are concerned with potential explosions. Crews made the decision to focus on an exterior attack.
