A salmon angler who injured himself while fishing alone near Two-Mile Falls on Burlington Brook in central Newfoundland had to be airlifted out for medical treatment.
The man reached out to emergency responders Sunday after he fell and injured his leg, leaving him unable to walk.
Police, firefighters and paramedics found the angler sitting on some rocks in the middle of the river, but they couldn’t get him out based on the surrounding landscape.
That’s when the Rescue Coordination Centre was called, who dispatched a helicopter from the 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Gander.
The man was safely airlifted from the river and taken to hospital in Gander.
