Just hours after scolding Israel and Iran for failing to adhere to a cease-fire, U.S. President Donald Trump says a ceasefire between the two countries is now “very much in effect.”
It’s a turnaround from an obviously angered and exasperated President who spoke with reporters this morning.
“They have two countries who have been fighting so long and so hard, that they don’t know what the (expletive) they’re doing.”
Trump later addressed reporters on board Air Force One en route to NATO meetings, indicating that the cease-fire is now in effect.
He says after discussions with Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli planes bound for Iran turned back.
“I said you gotta turn back the planes,” says Trump. “And there was going to be a retaliation this morning by Israel, and I said ‘you gotta call back the planes, that’s enough.’ And they did.”
