NDP leader Jim Dinn thinks there should be a police investigation into some of the findings in the Auditor General’s report into travel nurse contracts.
Specifically, he cites references in the report to “Agency A” and potential fraud happening “were there enough staff to oversee the situation, is it a case of political willingness to address the issue, and who is “Agency A,” and are they connected to the Liberals?)
The AG has said NL Health Services should work towards recovering money spent on services that were never received.
PC leader Tony Wakeham agrees with that, saying government needs to put a plan in place to recover money paid for services that were never received.
Wakeham notes the issues are nothing new, and that they were raised in the House of Assembly two years ago.
Wakeham says the money “absolutely” needs to be recovered. He agrees with Dinn’s assertion that a police investigation may be needed.
