A financial advisor is encouraging people not to take too much stock in what other people are doing when trying to stay in the green this summer.
Nancy Sneddon, President of BDO Debt Solutions and a licensed insolvency trustee, acknowledges that, especially with social media, many people have a fear of missing out over the summer months.
Sneddon says the summer months may come with an “urge to splurge,” but it is important to avoid taking on any additional debt even though a fear of missing out can make it hard to resist. She says people may post on social media about things like their vacations and having dinner and drinks out on patios, but they aren’t posting about whether those activities are affordable or their credit card bills.
