The provincial government has made changes to its climate action plan, adding 54 new ways in which to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Environment Minister Scott Reid says the goal is to reduce the province’s carbon emissions by 60 per cent before 2040, and achieve net zero by 2050.
Reid says they’re also creating more incentives for businesses and homeowners to switch to electric instead of oil heat.
They’re also looking at education and awareness campaigns.
He says the province’s Climate Change Action Fund will be used to help community groups, churches and others change from oil heat to electric.
