Habitat for Humanity has broken ground on a new home in Grand Falls-Windsor, which will house two families in the community.

The duplex will be located on Riverview Road.

The project began back in January 2023 when the town donated the land to the organization.

To support the build, the town took on the necessary zoning amendments, and federal money was set aside for the installation of a waterline and storm line, as well as curb, gutter, and new asphalt on the road.

Another $170,000 in provincial and federal money is being given for the project.

The aim is to have the home completed by the fall.
