Summer kicks into high gear in Conception Bay South this weekend with the Kelligrews Soiree.
The official kick-off is tomorrow morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the CBS Arena with the Home Hardware Pancake Breakfast.
Events continue through July 12 with something for everyone, says Mayor Darren Bent. And all are invited to have a free breakfast tomorrow morning.
The marquee event is tomorrow night’s garden party at Nugent’s Field with headliner Shanneyganock.
“It’s a great time and there are several other bands on stage just to get things rolling,” says Mayor Bent.
Mayor Bent says the summer festival is also an opportunity for people to get out and see familiar faces that they haven’t seen for a while. He notes that they had the largest turnout this year of any Canada Day.
The car show is just one of the many events. Elsewhere, mayor Bent says there’s an “outdoor movie night, a kite flying contest, drive-in bingo…we try to be as diverse as possible.”
