A Newfoundland musician got to live out a childhood dream this week by performing at the Quay’s Pub in Temple Bar in Dublin, Ireland.
Jackie Sullivan says she has been singing Irish music since she was a little girl, and it has always been a dream of hers to perform in the country.
She says Irish singer Gearoid McCarthy helped her set things up, and now she is doing a tour with Karla Pilgrim where they are doing seven shows in seven nights.
Sullivan says it was emotional for her flight to touch down.
Performing in Dublin “was like coming home” says Sullivan. “To make a lifelong dream happen at 53 is huge. I have more life lived than I have left and so to make this happen is just so emotional for me, I’m just over the moon.”
Sullivan says there were people from all over the world there to see her perform, including people from this province – describing the venue as being “packed with Newfoundlanders.”
She had no idea there would be so many people from her home there. She says they got a partial group photo and had the place “on wheels.”
