A police operation in Channel-Port aux Basques has come to a close following an increased RCMP presence in the Savoury’s Lane area earlier today.

Officers had asked the public to stay clear of the area while they carried out their work. RCMP assured residents at the time that there was no risk to public safety, but did not disclose details about the nature of the operation.

As of 6:05 p.m., police confirm that one man has been taken into custody and the scene has been cleared.
