Several properties have been damaged as an out-of-control wildfire continues to burn near Chance Harbour on the Bonavista Peninsula.
The fire grew in size yesterday, prompting government to issue an evacuation order for those in the Resource Road cabin area.
Officials say several cabins have been impacted, however the exact number is unknown.
Firefighting crews will be deployed on the ground and in the air today as analysts expect the fire to be active over the next few days.
Environment Canada meteorologist Graham MacDonald says there’s no reprieve expected until at least the weekend. He says winds will be gusting up to 40 km/h from the southwest.
He says the winds may fuel the fire, however any growth will be away from any communities.
Further updates on the situation will be provided throughout the day.
