Those who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy can now access continuous glucose monitors.
Patients who are struggling to control their blood sugars during pregnancy can avail of coverage through the provincial government’s continuous glucose monitoring program.
In order to be eligible, the person must have a confirmed diagnosis of gestational diabetes, hold a valid MCP card and be a permanent resident.
No income testing is required, however coverage will only be available for short-term use, as treatment for gestational diabetes is typically only needed for a few months.
