Some rowers got their oars tangled up in weeds at Quidi Vidi Lake yesterday, and that and the wind did play a factor in the selection of stakes for the championship races.
The Regatta Committee has been cutting the weeds but they drifted back into the lanes yesterday.
Keith White, captain of the course and VP of the committee, says they used the lunch break to address the situation.
There were some weeds in stakes one and two which we tried to mitigate last week but they grow back and they grow quick,” says White.
“So we went out on our lunch hour and addressed the issue to the best of our ability and no further issues the rest of the way.”
