The evacuation order for the Three Island Pond area of Paradise has been lifted.
The town says evacuated residents are now allowed to return to their homes.
While the evacuation order has been lifted, the town is reminding residents that the Paddy’s Pond fire is still active and considered out of control, and crews are continuing their work at the scene.
The evacuation preparedness alert, meanwhile, remains in place for the portion of Paradise south of Topsail Road from the Outer Ring Road exit to CBS boundary and residents should be prepared to leave on short notice.
Some road closures in effect
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary reminds that the evacuation order for the area southwest of Peacekeepers Way, which encompasses Cochrane Pond Park, remains in effect.
As well, Paddy’s Pond Road, Northern Pond Road and the southern portion of Fowlers Road remain closed.
The 306 hectare fire is continuing to burn with plenty of smoke and hot spots.
The Trans Canada reopened to traffic yesterday, but officials warn, it could close again depending on how the smoke and fire behaves.
Premier John Hogan says while weather conditions are improving with lower temperatures and a small amount of rain in the forecast.
