A man has been charged with serious offences following a dramatic crash at Tim Hortons on Main Street in Stephenville Tuesday morning.
A vehicle crashed into the business at about 7:30, causing extensive damage to the building.
Bay St. George RCMP say two people were airing their differences outside the restaurant around the same time. The verbal dispute escalated to the point where a man drove the vehicle into the building, nearly striking the other person involved in the dispute.
The vehicle fled the scene before police arrived, but later returned. That’s when police nabbed 42-year-old Wayne Mugford and charged him with assault with a weapon, taking a vehicle without consent and dangerous operation of same, and resisting a peace officer.
