RNC descended on the downtown area last night after a man reported having a gun pointed at him while he was out for a walk.

Police searched the area and located the suspect who was in possession of an imitation firearm.

The 29-year-old, who was already known to police, was on a firearms prohibition.

He was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, pointing an imitation firearm, careless use of a firearm and breaching his prohibition.

A 34-year-old woman who was in his company was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Both spent the night in the lockup.
