An officer who has often been the face and eyes of the RNC is stepping into a new role with the force next week after seven years.
Cst. James Cadigan has been the point man for the police, doing countless news conferences and interviews on cases and situations which sometimes grip the community. He moves into an investigative capacity next week.
The media relations officer says he never considered the role a challenge, but more one of connecting to community and doing things to help keep people safe.
“We as police officers are in the community also,” he says. “We have had many challenging situations over the past seven years whether it was COVID or something else, and it’s important to get accurate information out there.”
Cst. Stephanie Myers moves from the CID to media relations officer. The role is not entirely an unfamiliar one as she previously served as Cadigan’s assistant for about a year.
She says her fellow officers knew that she would end up in media relations at some point.
She says he has set the table well for her to step into the position, and she looks forward to working with community partners and the media.
