Three Newfoundland women detained by Israeli officials as part of the ‘Freedom Flotilla’ are arriving back home today.
Sadie Mees, Nikita Stapleton, and Devony Ellis were held for several days in the Ketziot prison.
Ellis says suggesting that the Ketziot prison is not a pleasant place is an understatement.
Since embarking on their journey, a ceasefire has been declared and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners has taken place.
Stapleton says a ceasefire is not an endpoint, but the bare minimum, and she expressed doubt that if would last.
She says Canada must join a growing international movement and enact diplomatic and economic sanctions on Israel, including a two-way arms embargo and the prosecution of war criminals.
