A 24-year-old man is facing a raft of firearms-related charges following an incident on George Street over the weekend.
Just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, RNC officers were approached by someone saying that a man had been pointing a firearm and had left the area in a taxi.
The cab was located near Garrison’s Hill and Queen’s Road. Police say the suspect took off on foot when he spotted the officers, but was arrested a short time later on Gower Street.
Police located a loaded handgun nearby. There is no indication that it had been fired.
The accused, Elliot Gould, is facing a long list of charges, most of which are related to firearms offences. He appeared in court today.
The charges against Elliot Gould include:
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Carrying a weapon at public meeting
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Unauthorized possession of firearm in motor vehicle
- Possession of weapon obtained by commission of offence
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unlawfully possessing a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Contravention of firearms storage, handling, etc. regulations
- Resisting arrest
- Failure to comply with a condition of a release order
- Failure to comply with Probation Order
- Failure to comply with Probation Order
