The new ambulatory health hub inside the old Costco building on Stavanger Drive opens to the public today.
Over the weekend, NL Health Services welcomed members of the public for tours of the new facility.
A number of outpatient services are being offered at the site beginning today, including general and internal medicine, general surgery, cardiac diagnostics, orthopedics, and audiology.
Kim Pike of NLHS says the new building will bring a number of expanded services to the east end.
“We’ve expanded the number of medicine and surgery clinics that are available for physicians to use, which then improves access time for patients. We’ve expanded some new services,” she said.
“We are going to be putting in two MRIs in January, so they’ll be open to the public, which is another expansion. And of course, we had a patient advisor sit on our steering committee right from the start, and she’s been instrumental in keeping the patient voice at the table.”
Starting Monday, November 3, a walk-in X-ray service will also be available from noon to 6 p.m.
Patients with appointment letters are being asked to confirm the location of their appointments.
Details on the opening of the new urgent care centre, which will be located in the same building, will be released in the coming weeks.
