The federal government is going to spend money studying the options for establishing some type of public transit system in a rural area of the Avalon Peninsula.
The feasibility study, to cost $50,000, will map the demand for an intercommunity public transit system. The dozen or so sparsely-populated communities in St. Mary’s Bay stretch from North Harbour to Peter’s Harbour. The study will look at a transit system to serve seniors, residents with disabilities and those without access to transportation.
Many people in the region flow to Conception Bay or St. John’s for things like medical and retail services.
