The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has a new, full-time traffic unit in western Newfoundland.
The team, made up of two officers, has been specially trained to investigate things like dangerous and impaired driving, multi-vehicle accidents, and breaches of the Highway Traffic Act.
Inspector Amy Sharpe says the introduction of the new unit is in direct response to the concerns of people in the area.
She believes it shows their commitment to the area. She says it will free up other officers to respond to calls, and will result in an increased presence for the RNC.
