Heavy rain this morning resulted in some flooding on Water Street West in St. John’s.
Drivers were warned about standing water in the area of the Railway Coastal Museum.
Ten mm of rain was in the forecast for the St. John’s metro region for today, but Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says some pockets of more intense rainfall were recorded on the northeast Avalon.
As of 8:30 this morning, 19 mm of rain was recorded at St. John’s International Airport, while the station in St. John’s west recorded up to 25 mm of rain – 9 mm of which fell in a single hour between 5:30 and 6:30 this morning.
The region is continuing to see steady light rain, and he expects total rainfall amounts to get even higher.
