VOCM and VOCM Cares were recognized at the Capital Hotel this morning as part of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ annual Spirit of Philanthropy Awards.
VOCM was presented with the Outstanding Special Event Award for the 24-Hour Home for the Night Radiothon. The 2024 event raised more than $591,000 for Daffodil Place.
Meanwhile, VOCM Cares was honoured with the Outstanding Philanthropist Group award. The Kids Eat Smart Foundation nominated VOCM Cares for their 10th annual Kids Eat Smart Radiothon, and for the foundation’s more than 45 years of contributions to charitable groups and causes in the province.
Two former VOCM Cares team members were also recognized: Kelly Reid, now with the Cancer Care Foundation was named Outstanding Fundraising Professional, and Sonya Smith, now with the Home Again Furniture Bank, was honoured for Fundraising Career Excellence.
