A 20-day trial has been set for one man accused of killing another in Little Burnt Bay last year.
Fifty-seven-year-old Ricky Wareham was charged with manslaughter the day after 36-year-old Kenny Wareham was shot to death.
The accused was here from Ontario while the victim was a longtime resident of Little Burnt Bay, and they were related.
The incident occurred on the night of June 2nd, 2024 in the coastal community about 10 kilometres north of Lewisporte.
RCMP responded to reports of a shooting at a home on Maple Street and found a man dead inside the small bungalow.
The accused was located a short time later and subsequently charged with manslaughter and possessing a weapon while prohibited.
The trial is set to start on December 8th in Gander Provincial Court.
The defence still plans to file a Charter application over the length of time it has taken to get to this point.
