St. John’s was the fourth most generous city in Canada this past year, according to fundraising site GoFundMe.
The company says over 6,900 donors were reported in the capital city in 2025, and with a population of over 110,000, that results in a per capita donor rate of 6.27 per cent.
Senior Corporate Affairs Manager Ved Khan says the result comes from an inherent desire from people to help their neighbours and friends in their time of need.
Khan says that people “show up” for causes they care about, which is why St. John’s has been in the top five of the list for two years in a row.
