A man who appeared reluctant to check in with RCMP on a court-ordered release order has been arrested and charged.

RCMP in Bonavista say 49-year-old Irving Power was ordered to report to the detachment weekly starting in December after being convicted of break and enter last year.

After missing four scheduled check-ins, police showed up at his house on Saturday, but he refused to come out.

The officers had to return, warrant in hand, to enter the house and take him into custody.

He was scheduled to appear in court yesterday on five counts of failing to comply with a release order.
