The communities of Mainland and Three Rock Cove on the Port au Port Peninsula have received approval to incorporate into the province’s newest town.
A transition committee will be established by the Department of Municipalities to help determine next steps.
The new municipality will now be able to access revenue through taxes, and municipal operating grants, and be able to work with the federal and provincial governments to access funding for infrastructure projects.
