Premier Tony Wakeham believes federal expenditures in 5 Wing Goose Bay are “only the beginning” of what this province can offer the country.

Last week the Prime Minister announced $35-billion in spending towards NORAD modernization, and included in that will be upgrades to 5 Wing Goose Bay.

Wakeham believes the promised federal funding is “fantastic news,” but exactly what those upgrades will entail remains to be seen.

He says structural upgrades will have to be a part of it. He notes that facilities in Gander and St. John’s are also part of what the province can offer.
