Newfoundland and Labrador now has one single regulatory body for nurses of all classifications.
The College of Registered Nurses has merged with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses to form the NL College of Nurses.
The merger, which will regulate the profession under one single entity for the first time, is being called a milestone.
CEO and registrar Lynn Power says having the one organization will change “very little” for nurses in the system as all of the regulatory processes will stay the same. But, for the public, the merger will mean a lot.
She says their mandate is to regulate the profession, so now people have a “one stop shop” where they can find out information and reach out if they have questions or concerns.
