A further expansion of the province’s international markets is top-of-mind for the federal fisheries minister as she is in Spain for the Global Seafood Expo.
Joanne Thompson argues that Newfoundland and Labrador is “so competitive” and is well-suited for expansions into global markets.
She uses efforts in the town of Gander last year as an example.
She says the area pivoted quickly to transport live lobster into the Spanish market, noting that buyers were impressed when they opened the crates and saw the quality coming from this province.
