That weekend wallop in metro was enough to send the region into snowfall territory not seen in over twenty years.
About 17 cm came down between Friday night and Saturday morning, pushing the total for the winter season to 530.6 cm according to Environment Canada meteorologist Rodney Barney. That’s the greatest accumulation of snow since the winter of 2002-2003. In that snow season, we got over 600 cm.
Much of the white stuff this year piled up in February, the snowiest month of all time with back to back to back storms.
Barney also notes that we usually get another 5 to 10 cm total between now and the end of May.
St. John’s #YYT final snowfall total 17.8 cm from the Fri/Sat event brings the season-to-date since Oct to 530.6 cm. Highest since 2002-03.
On avg 5-10 cm more falls by end of May, but varies a lot year to year. FWIW, little more is in sight beyond maybe some this evening. #nlwx
