The provincial government says three proposals received to a request to acquire a swing vessel for the Fogo Island-Change Islands run were non-compliant, so it is now considering its options.
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Barry Petten was questioned on the issue by the Opposition’s Jamie Korab.
Minister Petten says the bids they received were non-compliant, which he admits, was disappointing. He says they’re now looking at the possibility of employing a broker previously employed by Marine Atlantic when its RFP failed.
“There’s another option, another bidder that’s come forward to discuss, and we may even go with our own build. The bottom line is we’re committed to a swing vessel.”
