Workplace NL says the number of psychological injuries being suffered at work has been declining over the last several years.
The organization recently updated its Psychological Injury Policy to include workplace harassment.
The vice-president of prevention and workplace services, Alicia Sutton, says under their old policy, which looked at psychological injuries in relation to “traumatic events,” the numbers started to rise back in 2008, peaked in 2018, and have been declining ever since.
She says they’ve had 350 psychological injuries in the last five years. The highest number in a year was 90, but that has been declining. In fact, they only recorded 50 last year.
