NL Health Services is unable to offer further comment after the family of a well-known local musician, who died more than a year ago, has gone public seeking answers.
Kelly Traverse-Hiscock contacted VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan last week to discuss her husband Mark’s untimely death last year.
He suffered a fall on his boat and despite two trips to the ER complaining of worsening pain, a break in his back was somehow missed.
An autopsy revealed that he developed septicemia from the injury and passed away after being sent home a second time.
The health authority says it is unable to discuss specifics regarding an individual patient case, but they do recognize how deeply painful losing a loved one can be. It encourages patients or family members who have concerns about their care to speak with their care team first. If the concern is not resolved, they will then be directed to the Patient Relations Office, which can be reached by calling 1-844-776-4400 or emailing patient.relations@nlhealthservices.ca.
