The mayor of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove says capelin season is the busiest time of year in the town, and while he wants people to enjoy themselves he is also urging them to obey all the rules in place.
The capelin started rolling on many beaches in eastern Newfoundland late last week, and perhaps the busiest spot is Middle Cove Beach.
No parking signs are up along the roadway, and security is stationed at the beach and directing traffic.
Mayor Shannon Power is imploring people to obey the posted signage and listen to the instructions of officials at the site.
He calls it “vitally important” because emergency vehicles need to be able to access all areas of the town if need be.
